Student Leadership
At St Anne’s we believe that students should be given a wide range of opportunities to develop and practise leadership skills in preparation for life beyond school. We have a wide range of opportunities for students to take on leadership roles at the school, activities will focus on supporting the school’s aim to be a place where everyone enjoys learning and strives for excellence in all they do.
Aims of our Student Leadership programme
- • To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through a variety of projects that impact positively on well-being for both students and staff at St Anne’s.
• To prepare students for Higher Education and for achieving personal and professional excellence in life after formal education.
Prefects
Prefects are expected to be role models and demonstrate high standards themselves inside and outside of lessons; Prefects are ambassadors for the St Anne’s at all times, they are initially recommended by staff to apply and then have a rigorous interview with the SLT before being appointed to the role. Each year the prefect team choose a focus and create a project which will improve the quality of life for the student in both their time and moving forward. Alongside this they also support the school with events, lead the other student leaders with their clubs, mentor younger students and complete other duties in school. Prefects promote kindness, friendship, and acceptance of others; it pride themselves on being helpful to staff and students, leading by example.
GIFT Team
Open to faith-finders, Catholic explorers and those who are simply curious, GIFT is a club which leads the St. Anne’s community in the wonder of worship. Our purpose is to contribute to the wider Catholic life of the school in the form of collective worship. Each week, GIFT meets to create a weekly prayer based on a different theme (liturgical calendar, the Gospels, world events, SACRED Values etc.). Prayers are sent out to be shared, either in the form time PowerPoint or in assembly, read by staff. Some of these prayers have been presented by our GIFT team members in their own year group’s assembly. Prayers are being collated into our very own prayer book which will stay in the chapel. Our ‘God’s Instagram’ is located in the entrance to the RE block on the right, which is updated every week according to the theme of the prayer.
Caritas
We have a dedicated group of pupils known as “CARITAS Ambassadors” who put faith into action and build upon our SACRED value of Service. Twice a year, during our Charity drives, CARITAS Ambassadors play a crucial role in rallying their peers to participate, offering creative ideas and support to each form. They are also entrusted with monitoring and updating the charity gauge, as well as collecting and labelling donations, which are then delivered to the office in a secure manner.
Young Interpreters
Our Young Interpreters programme is a strong and dedicated team of students who have all volunteered to participate in our wider goal of inclusion. have all come forward to represent their countries and utilise their language skills to help others around the school and, by extension, the community. The students show an outstanding commitment to breaking down language barriers so that all of our students and parents feel a sense of belonging at St Anne’s. Their invaluable ability to interpret, translate and build rapport with others has gone a long way in building their sense of purpose at school and we are extremely proud of all of them for stepping up to the role. Students attend parents evenings, our open day, and Culture Club.
Student Council
Antibullying Ambassadors
We expect our children to follow our Catholic ethos of being kind, considerate and respectful to one another. The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors programme provides our children with the opportunity to work together to raise awareness and offer support to combat bullying. Anti-Bullying Ambassadors (ABAs) help educate their peers on bullying, lead on anti-bullying campaigns, promote a culture which celebrates and tolerates difference and help keep their peers safe both online and offline. They meet regularly to discuss ways in which to promote the programme and share ideas about how to offer support to the children who may require it.
